As the saying goes, "bad news travels a thousand miles" to explain the flood that happened in Pakistan recently. A large knitted garment manufacturer and exporter told the media that many Pakistan manufacturers were planning to raise their prices because of floods.

Naeem Siraj, the general manager of the Department, admitted that the situation in the flood disaster area was "chaotic".

The bad news is that the price of clothing is likely to rise due to tight cotton supply. According to reports, garment buyers are interrupted because they are worried that the shipment will be affected by floods. They are moving orders to neighboring Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

However, headquartered in Lahore, capital of Punjab province (Lahore), Style Textile, the second largest city in Pakistan, has not been directly damaged by floods.

Siraj says, "quite a lot.

The supply plant has been damaged, and some of our suppliers are in the flood disaster area. "Moreover, these suppliers are also located in the disaster area, and the energy supply (oil and natural gas) is also affected."

Siraj confirmed that the pport between inland and Karachi ports has also been interrupted.

However, Siraj stressed that "the problem of flooding is the challenge of energy and pportation disruption, but it has not resulted in shipments".

Style Textile, which has vertically integrated integrated operations in weaving, dyeing and finishing of knitted fabrics, produces traditional cotton fabrics such as brush cloth, fluffy cloth, rib cloth and functional fabrics specially designed for sportswear and functional clothing brands.

In addition to production

cloth

Besides, Style Textile still has 800 thousand garments making capacity per month. Its customers include Nike, Levi 's, Russell Athletic, PVH and Calvin Klein, etc. it also owns 1450 sewing machines and internal printing, embroidery and washing equipment including product value added.

It is estimated that the floods have caused 30% of Pakistan's cotton crops to be destroyed. However, Siraj believes that the prediction is "only current speculation that although the loss of cotton crop is predicted to be somewhere between 10-40%, it has not been evaluated based on quantitative measurement criteria".

"The loss of cotton crops is based on 1/3 areas flooded by floods in Pakistan. There are quite a lot of cotton planting areas to be estimated. According to our estimate, the loss of cotton crops is 20%, and the shortage of cotton is partly offset by imports from India."

"Therefore, the road to disaster relief in the future will be very difficult, but it is not a chaotic situation before."

As for the impact on prices, the price of Pakistani yarns is the same as that of India. Once the social work and rest in Pakistan are restored to normal, the price should be stable.

Generally speaking, Siraj told the media that floods have affected shipments, but there is no sign of business failure.
